Tourle Street Bridge Applications: Sub Surface Barrier Systems / Product: Jet Grouting The replacement of the existing Tourle Street Bridge in Newcastle, NSW lead to new consideration for foundations to eliminate issues of driving new pre-cast piles into contaminated fill material below the groundwater level. Menard Bachy's Jet Grouting proved to be the best of breed barrier system for the project. |

Hilton’s Dolphin Towers Surfers Paradise Applications: Foundations / Product: Diaphragm wall and barettes The challenging overall program for the construction of the new Hilton’s Dolphin Tower in Surfers Paradise, QLD lead the design to a 25 m deep perimetral wall wand barrettes. Menard Bachy's teams delivered the works successfully despite challenging conditions. |

Pyrmont Water Police Park Applications: Earth Retention / Product: Jet Grouting In July 2005 the Sydney City Council the former Water Police site at Pyrmont with plans to transform the area into a new urban parkland and foreshore inlet. The works required strengthening of the existing sea wall of which Menard Bachy provided a key benefit from the design stage through to execution in construction. |

Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal Applications: Sub Surface Barriers / Product: Jet Grouting As part of the expansion of the coal terminal storage facilities at Dalrymple, the Industrial dam had to be deepened and enlarged to accommodate greater storage of water for coal washing and other industrial uses. Treating the rock for seepage after excavation posed the problem which Menard Bachy's Grout Curtain Solution proved cost effective whilst also providing greater engineering certainty. |

Abu Dhabi Business Hub - Phase II - United Arab Emirates Industrial and Commercial buildings / Dynamic Replacement Abu Dhabi Business Hub Phase II is the primary phase for constructing the multi purpose warehouse buildings in the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD), Mussafah, UAE. This phase with about 60,000 m2 of storage area is intended to meet the requirements of numerous prospective companies that are interested in increasing their storage capacities in Abu Dhabi. The warehouses' slabs on grade were expected to be loaded uniformly to 3,000 kg/m2, and had to settle less than 25 mm under that load. |

Camau - Power Plant - Viet Nam Heavy Industry (petrochemical, storage) / Menard Vacuum The initial solution considered by the client was -either to carry out a drain and surcharge solution, but this solution , to be applied very slowly due to very poor soil characteristics , was incompatible with the schedule for part of the plant and was rendered expensive by the need to haul the sand from 200 km away -or to have all structures, including roads, drains, founded on RC square piles (40 to 50 m long): that solution was costly, and did not solve fully the problem of long term settlements (estimated at 1.5 m over the lifetime of the plant).Phase I did represent an area of 90 000 m² and phase II , 70 000 m². |

Alexandria City Center - Egypt Industrial and Commercial buildings / Vertical Drains Due to the important thickness of the fill to be installed to reach the final platform level and to the load of the structure properly speaking , this soft clay layer would have settled , if remained un-treated, of several meters over the life time of the building (consolidation phenomenon) and would have induced unacceptable post construction settlements. |

Al Faq'A & Al Quoa Platform Construction - United Arab Emirates Industrial and Commercial buildings / Dynamic Compaction Houses to be built either on areas of "fill" or areas of "cut". All fills initially realized by dumping un-compacted sand. No water table found through thickness treated. The aim of treatment was to increase fill density , in order to limit settlements under future houses, differential settlements for houses implemented partially on fill and partially on cuts , or on fills of variable thickness.Aim was also to insure self bearing criteria , that is to say to avoid that fills settle under their own weight. |
