Menard Bachy is very active in sanitation engineering: retention and storage facilities for stormwater runoff, polluted water and flood water; underground and ground-level water supply reservoirs; fift pump stations, Wastewater treatment stations, .. Our experience with deep foundation engineering means that the geotechnical problems specific to each project are dealt with swiftly and efficiently, using our palette of existing techniques: diaphragm walls, watertight barriers; tunnelling, soil improvement, barrette multiform piles, civil engineering works, ground anchors, shafts, piling, ground freezing, and many more.

Soil improvments under plants, LNG tanks and similar

Identifying the most effective foundation system, one which guarantees smooth and safe performance over time is the objective for MENARD engineers. This is especially true when confronted with compressible soils. The most cost-effective foundation systems often requires introducing different ground improvement treatments that take into account the range of soil properties and load conditions.

The most frequent challenges are:

  • support of heavy and uniform loads (water, oil, gas storage) and isolated loads (industrial, infrastructures, pipe-racks)
  • reduction of total and differential settlements to acceptable limits

In this regard, we usally design the soil improvement with the following targets : provide bearing capacity of up to 20 t/m2, support allowable isolated loads of up to 300 t, reduce differential settlements to around 1/1000.
